Looking for new bass guitar amp and pickups?
Im tired of my little 6 inch, no effects but distortion guitar amp.
What (inexpensive) bass guitar amps should i look into for playing music anywhere from punk to hardcore metal?
and im also thinking about some new pickups.
any ideas?
for pickups, nothign beats a seymour duncan quarter pounder spb-3. you play metal? steve harris uses it, so does frank bello. poprock? mark hoppus and joe trohman use it (joe plays bass on the albums, at least thats the word out on the street around hollywood), punk? jay bentley from bad religion. few more names include buckcherry, LA guns, box car racer, senses fail, the bravery, aquabats, goldfinger, smashing pumpkins, yellow card, autumn to ashes, HIM and misfits
as for a bass amp, a good cheap one would probably be fender. Fender makes great sounding solid state bass amps, and at pretty decent prices. I personally though, would go for a behringer. you can get a 120 watt behringer 12 inch speaker combo for less than 200. Thats what i use as my bass practice amp. behringers dont sound great, and youll never find a high end behringer amp, but you get mor than what you pay for. not alot more, but enough more. they are a PA company, so you mostly get a very clear and tranquil sound. it doesnt add alot of flavor. very sterile, and reliant upon the pickup or any pedals you use.
