dude i totally agree with you. Z.vex pedals are for the most part noise makers. the price they charge is ridiculous. I think the super hard on is pretty fucking good though. but they charge 220 bucks for a one knob boost pedal!

Has anyone tried to use a wah pedal with the mastotron? Does it oscillate? I know MXR has a buffer switch to help out with this issue but I like the fuzz controls on the zvex pedals.

    Gearmanndude,

I’m a huge fan of your videos. It would be great if you can compare the mxr classic fuzz, big muff (wicker), peppermint fuzz and mastotron with a wah. You be a big help to making me decide between these pedals? Feel free to change of the mix of products :)

    Thx!

One more for wah test with fuzzes…

  • amarr1 says:

All of those pedals are completely different fuzzes.

  • amarr1 says:

    put it before the wah.

  • justingregoire says:

i respect everyones opinions but i think wah pedals sound stupid. not as stupid as flanger, but pretty dumb.

  • staticinfinity says:

where’s the sustain? notes just sputter out in an ugly way. same thing i disliked about the octane. is it just me? zvex fuzz pedals are so overrated? i like the ooh wah and… yeah i like the ooh wah. you can get a decent guitar or amp for the money they charge for $15 of parts. it’s really hard for me to respect that.

I think i prefer the Big Muff with Tone Wicker

  • Twistchawa says:

Fuzz Factory? Good choice! That’s the only Zvex I really dig

  • VarashTR says:

    no oscillation

  • ShameofaNation says:

I almost got this, but then I got my Tone Wicker Muff. This is still a great fuzz, the Muff just suited my fuzz needs better

I love the MASTOTRON! Name of my next band? This should be very good silicon fuzz for it’s price.

  • lidesnowi says:

Dude Its a crossover distortion pedal!

  • lesscunning says:

music in the beginning of this is SO KILLER. thank you for another excellent demo gearmandude.

  • juhanikangas says:

i´ve had this pedal for two weeks, and it´s a piece of shit!….. almost impossible to get any usable tones out of it . plugged straigt to my tube amp it sounds horrible, only way i can get somethin usable out of it, is to run it to my electro harmonix english muff´n overdrive. really farty sounding pedal. expensive too…..

  • frizbplaya says:

Did you have a buffer or buffered pedal in front of it? Buffers kill fuzz.

  • mindphlux says:

    lmfao the intro music

  • juhanikangas says:

I POSTED A NEGATIVE COMMENT ON THIS PEDAL A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO, and have been converted since. it just needs a dirty sound on the bottom, an overdrive will do, then some tweaking and it will blow your head of, seriously. this pedal will suck your dick!

  • fenderstrat10101 says:

    thats gotta be jack black

  • mynmyself says:

silicon to the power! much nastier than germanium!

  • mynmyself says:

@spatescroll ten thousand points to that (and fuzz before wah!)

  • mynmyself says:

@amarr1 thats the way to go!!

  • sirchuckypoo says:

hey, would you put this before an overdrive or after?

  • MoonlightShadowlolz says:

@sirchuckypoo after. The overdrive can push it some more. Otherwise you push the overdrive. Which will sound like crap and will feedback like hell.
